Played with emotional, cinematic manner, typical rock band instruments (electric guitar, bass, drums) rarely need words to express mind states. Post-rock forked from rock before post-apocaliptic everything was trending. Typically, tunes start with a slow motif and gradually explodes and saturated towards the end. You'll find such structure with bands like Mono and Do-may-say-think. Mogwai, another forefront band of post-rock (or post-punk?), is akin to electronic/cinematic music (cyber-post-punk!). Godspeed you black emperor sets apart. It's not really a stable band, tunes don't really have an introduction or conclusion, neither albums, and titles are more like tagging a mind state than announcing anything clear.
