The teen asked me if I could provide a Spotify premium subscription. I asked why they didn't just listen to their mp3s. They said the cloud provider interface to play music was barely usable. Fair point. But hey, dustic already had synced profiles, so why not... audio? Some architectural design and thoughtful vibe coding after, dustic can now be fed with user's audio files through a cloud sharing protocol called webdav (the same protocol, we used to share profiles). To use it you need to have a cloud provider offering webdav, dump your audio files, setup webdav, wire it to dustic.
Set up a free cloud provider
Most providers don't have webdav for free, but Koofr currently offers 10 Gb of free cloud space with a top-notch webdav. To connect your dustic app to Koofr, head up to koofr.eu, tap get started, create a Music folder, then dump some of your favorite mp3 or ogg files. Still on Koofr, go to the profile menu (top right) > Preferences > Password. You will see a place where you can generate an app password. Generate it and record it in your password manager (you use a passowrd manager, right? no? head up to bitwarden.com, and create an account).
Wire it to dustic
The koofr part is done. Now go to ductic.app > Sources > Manage sources. In the fields write a name for your cloud space (whatever you want), write https://app.koofr.net/dav/Koofr in the server address, your koofr user name and the app password you create (not your kofr password) - your password stays local, dustic will never see it. Write /Music to point the space to the right place, then you'll have your own audio in Library / Your folders.
Nice uh?
(hey, what do you think of the new logo?)
